You may as well advocate letting them play college without passing the clearinghouse. Not happening.

Once they take a dime from an outside party they are done playing basketball for a NCAA program.

Everyone is eligible to be drafted after their senior year of high school, Those who don't get drafted can either go G-League or School. The ones who choose college must stay for two years before they're eligible to be drafted again, and they must declare for that draft. If they do not, then they wait until they graduate to be drafted.

Basically, a hybrid version of the MLB model to incorporate the G-League.

Agreed.

This I could get behind. But NBA teams would never go for a system like MLB where they could potentially draft a kid and he decided to go to college instead to improve draft position down the road..

They are already taking tens of thousands. Why not let them try to earn some money first above the table. This model works for someone like Korleone Young. Change what amateur means and what disqualifies athletes.

Unless they retained their rights. Might make teams more cautious.

I received a letter from Clearing House the other day that said I was their $3 Million grand prize winner. I just have to make monthly payments for the next 100 years to collect my prize.

RE: One & Done going away?
With the summer league's popularity increasing over the past few years, would the NBA be wise to expand it to a full-fledged rookie/2nd year player league?

Allow the NBA to draft out of high school, then expand the NBA draft to 4 rounds. All players drafted are guaranteed a 2 year contract and are guaranteed to at least play a maximum of 2 seasons in the summer league. After each Summer League season, NBA teams can move these rookies/2nd year players up & down the ladder between the G-League & NBA as needed and/or based on performance. Summer League pay 30k with housing paid for by the team.

8 teams - 28 game season. May-August. 4 team playoffs. each round is 3 game series

Either find regional mid-sized cities (similar to the original D/G-League model) or set up rotating large market host sites each week throughout the Summer for a 2 or 3 game showcase. (NY,Orlando, Atlanta, Las Vegas, LA, Chicago, Dallas, DC, etc.)

What? The entire world knew Korleone Young was never going to play a minute of college basketball after getting wrapped up in the pay for play AAU fiasco.

You need a better example than that guy.
