Why Should NC State and Florida State make the tourney?
RPI's (before today's losses) were 54 and 45

NCState has bad losses to UNI and GT, as well as UNC-G

Has some good wins, but the self-fulfilling loop of the ACC gets them more credit than actual worth.

Florida State has an even weaker case - bad OOC schedule, good win vs Fla, Bad loss to Okie State. The proverbial .500 conference team/first round conference tourney bounce-out that shouldn't get a bid

But they are in the ACC, so will get a bid, just because.

I'm not sold FSU should, but NC State is a true bubble to me. If BC wins tomorrow, I think they should get the nod instead. Notre Dame and maybe even Syracuse are playing better ball than the two you mentioned right now as well.

As are others outside the ACC.

BC has to win the tournament to get in.

With the loss today NC State should have no chance now.

Why should they? Because there are spots at the table. And nobody else seems to want to take those spots.

Yup.

ASU at least can claim wins over two of the current #1 seeds.

NC State bought out their game with Loyola-Chicago this year. That may end up what keeps them out of the tournament. Irony is a special art.

But ASU failed down the stretch.

UC missed the tourney in 2006 because we faded down the stretch, too. We had an RPI much higher (40) than ASU's (51), a tougher schedule (7th) than ASU (79th), and did better in our last 10 games (5-5; 8 of the 10 opponents made the NCAA tourney) than ASU (4-6; 3 of the 10 opponents will make the NCAA tourney)

The first day of the ACC Tourney, the higher (better) seeds all won. So far on the second day all the lower seeds have made it to the quarterfinals. Will Syracuse make it a clean sweep tonight?

As an NC State fan, I am on the bubble. They are so much better than last year, I would love to see them rewarded. They have some good wins and some bad losses. I kind of see them as a first-four team but wouldn't be surprised if they didn't get in.

Oklahoma State is not a bad loss and has the potential to get way better with a win tomorrow over Kansas.

ASU's non-conference wins are probably the best of anyone's this season, and I doubt the committee snubs them because of it. There are probably more deserving teams who should get the bid, but, since we're talking about teams with mucked up resumes and questionable losses, one's kind of as good any other, I guess.

NCSU Lock - No, NCSU - Should be in - Yes, NCSU last four out - highly doubtful

Too many get stuck on the RPI and forgets the committee is just like the CFP committee. There is an eye test and bias. Consideration of team missing a player, NCSU PG was out for 7 games.

LAST 12 8-4
RPI TOP 25 4-4
TOP 50 6-5
TOP 100 10-9

Q1 Wins against the following.
18 Nov. 22 Arizona* 90-84
5 Jan. 6 Duke 96-85
10 Jan. 11 Clemson 78-77
4 Jan. 27 @ North Carolina 95-91
40 Feb. 14 @ Syracuse 74-70
38 Mar. 3 Louisville 76-69

Again, this is the one difference I see between the CFP and Basketball. CFP does not care about the other rankings but I think NCAA does look at the Bball rankings. I think it should go to more of CFP ranking for at-larges and ignore the old polls. But I will put the old metric in anyway. Five top 25 wins

Wins again Wins again #2 Arizon (N), #2 Duke (H), #19 Miami (H), #19 UNC (A) and #25 FSU (H)

I thought single digit see was two high due to weak SOS and bad losses to Northern Iowa and GT. I think 10-12 would happen. I don't think there are enough bubble poppers to but them in danger, but enough left to put them into last four in.

I do imagine there will be a strong SOS in Keatts 2ndy year.

Would love to see teams like Saint Mary’s and NC State who bought out top mid major’s have karma hit them upside the head tomorrow.

RE: Why Should NC State and Florida State make the tourney?
Not sure who NCSU bought out in Basketball, I do know they have done that in football. I will say many State and ACC fans thought we be lucky to just make the NIT this year. On reason, NCSU did not try and go crazy with SOS this year. Imagine that will be changing next year. Keatts turned out to be an even better hire than we hoped for so far. Each to their own opinion but highly doubt NCSU has much to worry about. My main concern, who comes after Keatts, NCSU needs to be offering a big pay raise after this season.
