Ollie believes that he will be back next year
link
Following an 80-73 first-round loss to SMU in the American Athletic Conference men’s basketball tournament at the Amway Center in Orlando on Thursday, Ollie was asked if he believes he’ll be back to coach the program in 2019.
“Yes,” Ollie said emphatically
“I want to assess everything I’m doing as a coach and see how I can get better,” Ollie said when asked if there was anything he would do differently this season. “We don’t want to be 14-18. That’s unacceptable. We have to get better in every category.”

Should've asked him if he'll take a pay cut until he figures out what's wrong and starts winning again. I can't believe reporters get payed so much to ask generic questions.

I'm a big fan of UCONN (Oh, oh, someone's spidey senses must be tingling) as both a blueblood and one of the flagships of this conference along with Cincy and WSU (and hopefully Memphis and others someday), but this is year two of UCONN sucking and it is destroying this conference's perception; around when Ollie won his national championship this conference was pulling 4 and 5 bids easily and now that UCONN has fallen off (along with Temple, SMU and Memphis), we are lucky to get 3. Ollie and Tubby need to go and we need to bring in people like Penny and Larry Brown ASAP. Ollie's ship has sailed and he can no longer ride Calhoun's championship tailcoats. Haith and Dunphy are borderline, but if they can't get their acts together soon either, they need to be axed as well.

Haith is on schedule, just for the record.
After 9 seniors left:
Year 1
Bring in a ton of kids, figure out who works, improve your sophomores
Year 2
Replace kids who didn't work out with mix of transfers and freshmen. NIT at least.
Year 3
Fill in remaining holes. Balance classes. Continued development. Compete for NCAA at large.
Year 4
NCAA at large, top 5 seed, win tourny game(s).
We're in year two right now, moving right along. Next year will be the one where he will really be examined for flaws.

I was a bit harsh on Frank and grouped him with Dunphy without further explanation; it's just they are both great coaches and should be performing better than they did this year (although Haith has performed better with the cards he was dealt).

I think Haith is in evaluation mode, this is just now his program, so we shall see.
Dunphy at Temple is probably done. He's had the time and resources, I don't think Temple is happy with their result. A mediocre year for Haith and he may be found equally lacking. So I don't think you are far off. Haith isn't bad yet, but he isn't good yet either.

UConn has hired the same consultant to evaluate their coach that the Bengals did.

If his buyout really is $10 mm, then I think he is correct. He will be back.

Both Ollie and Tubby's buyouts are 10 million.

Don't worry, Memphis donors will cover that cost.

That's a good sign considering he wants to keep Ollie and go to the Big East (saving the $10 Mil for the AAC exit fee).
