Charter Communications f*cking BLOWS
CHARTER:
Converter Box: Motorola DCT-2224
It has a serial port on the back so you can connect it to your TiVo, or Windows Media Center, or SageTV, or MythTV, or Freevo, etc so that these DVRs can change the channel on the converter box. That way you're not stuck on the channel the converter box shows when you set recordings.
Charter has the port DISABLED in the box. They do not offer one that is enabled. They refuse to reprogram one you acquire from elsewhere that is enabled.
Their solution? Use Charter DVR which is crippled and full of DRM.
Oh yea, and you'll have to pay at least $7.00/mo extra as this is only in their "HD teir" plan. Oh yea, and the new converter box for that plan? They refuse to let you install it. That's another $50. Oh yea, and you have to specifically request which ports you want enabled in the back.
*** **** I HATE THE CABLE-TELECOM DUOPOLY IN THIS COUNTRY. It's gayer than a VW Beetle full of Richard Simmons clones driving through San Francisco with a rainbow paint job on the way to a Bed, Bath, and Beyond.
