What you need is a capacity that keeps demand and ticket price at good levels. A huge stadium that sits at 75% capacity half of the time is going to cost you money to maintain empty seats, for one. And then how are you going to pay off the construction debt from the expansion if you aren't selling the majority of the expanded seats on a regular basis?

Ask Texas A&M - they just added a couple thousand empty seats this year!

Certainly interested in seeing what happens there now that the Manziel hype and SEC new car smell is fading. They've had a worse record each of Sumlin's 3 seasons and haven't finished better than t-2nd in their division, a tiebreaker they lost.

If any school could fill a massive stadium after a 20,000-seat expansion, TAMU is one of them. It's a huge-enrollment university and isn't a far drive from 12 million Texans in the states 4 largest metros.

Maybe they fill their stadium despite being mediocre like they were doing prior to expansion and like South Carolina was doing pre-Spurrier.

Good point bringing up South Carolina. There's a big difference between hope (pre-Spurrier) and expectations (post). I wonder if attendance will drop off once the old man finally retires... or even before then if the losses keep mounting?

You mean like it has done in Blacksburg with an aging Beamer?

Ouch! 04-jawdrop
