RE: Open Thread - 2018 Baseball Season
ND beat #7 Florida State 8-7 in Tallahassee tonight.

The Irish used a grand slam and a three run homer to take a big lead and (this time--several blown saves this year) held on for the win.

ND has won the last three games it has played against Top Ten teams (LSU, LSU, FSU) on the road this year.

Then again, it lost two midweek games against St. Josephs....and lost to several other fairly weak teams. ND has 14 freshmen playing and most of the pitchers are freshman and sophomores who didn't pitch much last year. ND lost six pitchers to the draft last year, mostly juniors.

ND is very inconsistent as a result. Pitching (many walks and HBP) is their weakness right now. The hitting is pretty good, so is the fielding.

The Irish are 8-8 this season, 2-2 in the ACC.
