RE: Jim Delany says condensed basketball schedule 'wasn't healthy' and won't be repeated
I get the idea of the east coast presence. I wasn't in favor of expanding, but we are 14 teams now, with 3 on the east coast. The idea is that the conference wants to "live there" and not have those schools feel like outposts and thus somewhere around 20% of the conference tournaments would be east coast events. I don't particularly like the east coast focus and think the furthest west teams are being shortchanged a bit here, but with all the additions I get the idea of wanting to put attention there.

So I guess that while I would definitely prefer all conference tournaments in Indianapolis or Chicago, I think it probably is smart to put one in the east every few years (although would keep it to 2 a decade and not have them back to back).

Regardless, I am glad they decided moving up the schedule was not a good idea and won't repeat. While I enjoyed this year, it wasn't good for the players and don't think the extra sitting time is doing the conference any favors either.
