But we are getting to the point where the failure of republicans to come up with any coherent platform or set of principles is becoming very annoying. I know what democrats stand for and I reject it. WTF do republicans stand for?

the simplest way to answer........not socialism.....

one can only hope that fiscal cons become part of reality moving forward.....I'm not holding my breath......but I damn sure know which is the lesser of the two evils.....

it appears McConnell wants our Governor to appoint himself (Bryant....southern miss grad)....

that would draw some ire from the other side of the aisle....

Quote:Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has urged Bryant to appoint himself, according to a person familiar with the discussions.

the 'sip now has two seats up for grabs......I don't worry about it.....they're both a gimme putt to remain ®.....most likely it will be Wicker keeps his seat and McDaniel fills out the remainder of Cochran's term after the special election...

Historially Governors appointing themselves don't perform well electorally.

Bryant is a piece of work. That's to be sure.

There isn't going to be a special election in any real sense here. These are the Mississippi rules for special elections for the US Senate

1) The Governor will appoint someone to fill the seat until an election is held in November for the remainder of the Senate term
2) A jungle primary (no partisan nominees - everyone runs) will be held on the November election day
3) If no candidate gets 50%, the top 2 advance to a December run off.

My guess is that Bryant and Cochran have this planned out. My guess is that Bryant already has a plan to screw McDaniel. Or Wicker is so scared of McDaniel that he's trying to give McDaniel Cochran's seat to save him in a primary.
