I hadn't read anything about it, but the Tuchel to Southampton stuff seems to be flaring up...that would be a VERY interesting hire given the talent already there. I think he could find some great ways to use Cedric, Boufal, Tadic, and Rodriguez together. I would think he could probably bring a player or two along who would be able to fill regular minutes (Pulisic or Sahin) too.

In other transfer news, looks like Brooks is heading to Wolfsburg for some reason. Largest American transfer fee at €17M.

Brooks really likes the new Passat. That's why hes moving to Wolfsburg.

Tuchel would be a coup for SOTON. Hard to see the Saints dishing out the money needed for Pulisic. He'd probably go for over 20 million euro and their transfer record is 18 million euro

Hey, with every year they're in the Prem, they've got more in the coffers...€20-€30M isn't out of the question now when you look at the spending by other teams in the 7-11 range in the last few years. Not to mentioned they've been a net positive on transfers in each of the last 5 years...hell, they're still living off that Lambert/Lovren/Lallana money that Liverpool set on fire a few years back 03-lmfao. If I had to guess, Van Djik will probably get them about £20M this window, so they'll have money to work with. Not saying they would ever go after him, just think they'll be moving a bit more money in this window. They can't keep trying to compete by selling off £40M guys and getting back £7-10M guys, and their end goal is Europa, they've made that clear.

Im not saying they cant afford him. Its just not their MO to buy high for youngsters. They tend to buy low or grow them in the academy and then sell off for profits....and spend for more for players closer to the finished product.

Completely agree, they actually have one of the more business forward models in upper-level European competition. Very few can pull a net positive year in/year out and still be in the upper half of the table...that Boufal signing (that record you mentioned) may have turned them away from younger players for a spell since that hasn't seemed to pan out the way they had hoped.
