Yeah, I'm not sure there either. I do believe the dates on that rumor are correct. That August 1st decision deadline has been mentioned a ton lately. It would not entirely surprise me if Swansea intends to make a final call one way or the other tomorrow.

Supporters Trust rumors here are really hard to give an opinion on. Yes, the Trust is part of the club board, and does know information before it becomes public, but they are usually very big about not revealing any information, and members who do might find it difficult to get information in the future. They have been accurate before (The leaks about Ashley Williams requesting a transfer came from there), but Trust sources also told us we had signed Joe Allen last year, and he's most decidedly playing for Stoke right now.

If I was to hazard a guess. We've offered Gylfi a new contract, and told him he has until August 1 to accept or request a transfer. Signing a new contract would be the one way he could save face with fans after this, as he's gotten a lot of hell for not participating in any of the preseason. Requesting a transfer allows ownership to save face when they take a deal for much less than 50 million.

And thus we come back to they should've taken 40+5 cause once a request is in the leverage is gone and it'll be closer to the original price tag of $35. In the end though, it just needs to end. Like several weeks ago.
