Anecdotally, my nephew played D1 college soccer and suffered concussions.

Pretty much the same thing as football is...burying their collective heads in the sand and hoping no one cares. I had one concussion playing soccer, but probably 100 mini-concussions from heading the ball. I have heard of leagues who have outlawed heading the ball to try to mitigate that issue, but that's not something that'll ever be implemented en masse. Girl's soccer is by far the worst due to their neck muscles not being as developed and them not having strong technique in heading the ball, which tends to allow for more rebound injuries...and they are much more stupid wreckless as opposed to consciously aggressive. The amount of girls I've seen run headlong into goals, players, stands, etc. at full speed probably quadruples the men's count.
