Apparently the transfer request was rejected. Not sure how all that works, but it keeps things interesting. At some point it's best to take the money and let the player go instead of possibly dealing with a malcontent for an entire season.

It works horrifically. It's now obvious that he wants out (and doesn't care about forcing it by handing in the request), so Liverpool are stuck between standing firm and having Coutinho sit out due to a "back injury" or letting him go and having a couple of weeks to find a replacement for their best player.

Which beckons back to my point that at some point it's just better to take the money, etc. That shouldn't be too hard considering this Barca board is idiotic and has money to burn. The amount they are offering for Coutinho, IMO, is already way too much considering he's a replacement not for Neymar, but for Iniesta.

What good is money when you can't spend it. There's no way to find a replacement for Coutinho. We'd just end up in another Andy Carroll situation, overpaying for an average player.
