On another note, lots of politics on display during the match. This was a Catalan derby and apparently Madrid raided Catalan offices last week leading to lots of independence chants and rampant waiving of the pro-independence estelada flag.

Which begs the question, if they so,it what will happen? Do they form their own league and hope Barca can secure them decent enough TV deals? Do they join France and almost instantly have that league bypass La Liga?

I for one think Portugal, Spain, and France at least should combine into one system since all three only have a few notable teams anyone cares about.

I don't think anything will come of, all the Catalans want is the opportunity to vote. From what I've read the majority actually like Spain; however, there are always the zealots, etc. As for Barca, if Catalonia ever does gain independence, I don't see the team, nor Espanyol, leaving La Liga. That's just too much $$ for La Liga to let slip away. If Barca did leave La Liga, I can only hope they join Lique 1 (like Monaco) so that Neymar will be forced to yet again live in Messi's shadow.
