Peru is currently one spot ahead of Argentina in qualifying and stand on the brink of its first World Cup qualification in 36 years. Interesting facts; Peru's coach is a former Argentine player that knocked Peru out of the 1985 World Cup. Also, the last time Argentina did not go to the World Cup it was due to a 2-2 draw with Peru. According to the in-laws, Peru is going nuts for this match.

I think CONMEBOL has the most intrigue surrounding qualification this year IMO, sure groups E and I in UEFA are close, but I think the situation in South America is way crazier given the teams involved. There's a chance that the most recent WC Runners Up and/or the current Copa Champion could miss the cut entirely. Hell, there's an outside chance that they both could...if Paraguay win tonight against Colombia, there would be a hell of a lot of pressure on both sides.

I think it's good to see other teams this close to qualifying. I also think CONMEBOL should have more than 4 qualifiers (not counting inter-confederation play-offs) as well.
