Actually yes they do, in order to be a sanctioned fifa league they need approval from their federation, in this case ussf. Thats why the ussf decided the other leagues were tier 2 and mls was top. So ussf could really cause all kinds of problems if they wanted. The issue is the ussf pprez is on the mls' nuts. He is toast though, so i see some changes coming.

He's not on the MLS's nuts, he's invested. Sunil is on the board of directors in SUM (a subsidiary of MLS) as well as the former president for Robert Krafts MLS franchise. SUM's CEO is Don Garber who also happens to be on the board of directors in the USSF while also commissioning the MLS. Oh, let's not forget that Sunil is close friends with Chuck Blazer...
