Italy and the Netherlands missing the WC are so much more ridiculous than the US...I honestly can't imagine a WC without them, it's going to be weird.

Netherlands failed to qualify for the Euros and they are an aging team. Italy has failed to get out the group in the last 2 World Cups: they finished last in 2010 in a group of Paraguay, Slovakia, and New Zealand. Last World Cup they had a tough group and finished 3rd. Their midfield and attackers are not World Class except for Veratti. Italy needs to naturalize some Argentines!
