Yeah, but was planning on coaching through the WC either way...guess Spain didn't like that idea and instead are probably throwing away their chances at winning.

The Spanish FA mad a comment that he needed to be the coach of all of Spain. Which I took to mean that the Catalan players/FC Barca were not happy.

Seems silly to disrupt everything right before the WC starts. I have a feeling the Barca players wouldn't really care if the coach was a future RM coach. They and the other NT members usually put club rivalries aside and play as one during a WC. The media likes to instigate stuff but the players, usually have fun with it. The whole Spanish FA can be a little loopy at times.

Edit: I've done some digging around and apparently Lopetegui got sacked because he didn't inform the Spanish FA of his negotiation and agreement with Real Madrid. So, nothing to do with Catalan stuff, etc....

Edit #2: Fernando Hierro has been named Spanish NT manager.

Yup. The guardian had that on their site. The Spanish FA statement came out after I posted. Sorry guys.
