RE: OT: Officially The Official Soccer Thread
Just for more Drama. Colombia beat Senegal 1-0 and Poland beat Japan 1-0 in Group H. That left Senegal and Japan even for the runner up spot on the first 6 tiebreaks. Result came down to who had the fewest Yellow/Red Card combinations in the group Stage. Realizing with 20 minutes left they had one fewer yellow card than Senegal, Japan essentially sat back for the last 20 minutes and just passed the ball back and forth, and let Poland do the same, eliminating chances at a cheap yellow. That forced Senegal to score to win, which they couldn't do try as they might.

Colombia wins Group H and faces England in the easy part of the knockout bracket. Japan takes runner up and faces Belgium in the Bracket of Death.

For the first time in a long time, no African nation qualified for the knockout stages. Four South American sides, 10 European sides and one each from AFC and CONCACAF hold the 16 spots.

Off Day tomorrow for the World Cup before the Round of 16 begins with a doozy. France vs Argentina on Saturday at 10am ET. Portugal will face Uruguay in the 2pm ET match.
