RE: Favorite movie endings
(08-19-2017 08:39 PM)Side Show Joe Wrote: Blade Runner is an outstanding movie. I loved it when it hit the theaters in 1982 and it only gets better with age.
I only wish it had been set further in the future. 2059 would have worked just fine with the world Dick/Scott created. After reading these comments, I watched it again last night. "The Final Cut" is my personal favorite. Even though the movie has enjoyed growing success over the years, I still believe it is ahead of it's time. In another 20 or 30 years it may be viewed among the greatest ever.
I am apprehensive about the new Blade Runner. On one hand I'm excited and can't wait to see the movie. On the other hand, I'm certain it will not be as good as the first, and could end up being the ugly sequel everyone hates... Like the Star Wars prequels, or Godfather Part 3.
I can't quite remember the first time I saw it. TV, VHS, or dvd....not sure... the whole concept of it really grabbed me though. Then, once I got turned onto see Ghost in the Shell I was amazed about how similar the philosophy was between the two and their concepts in some regards. And then the burning question left to you at the end... was Deckard a replicant? And it was as circular of proof for one side or the other as it was in say Basic Instinct.
Then, I heard about all the different endings each "cut" of the movie and so when the extended BR version that had all the edits on it I usually watch the DC Unrated version.
