RE: Coaching Hot Seat / Coaching Search 2017/18
Nebraska has little natural talent in their home state so the triple option is something they can use to make up for the lack of talent such as Georgia Tech and the military academies use due to either high academic standards or a limited recruiting pool. Nebraska should be better than this.

Looking at future non-conference schedules, there are zero Texas schools. Their big non-conference games are against Oklahoma, Tennessee, Colorado, and Arizona. The rest are basically MAC programs split between Ohio schools and Northern Illinois. Nebraska looks like they are trying to be something they aren't, which is a Midwestern classic Big Ten school from the 1980s. Ohio is a great state to recruit from but Nebraska isn't nearby and doesn't have a history there. Illinois is more defensible as they have two intra-division games against Illinois and Northwestern and they aren't historical powers. Nebraska needs to stop pretending to be someone they aren't because the Big Ten needs them to be the historical power they used to be.
