What does that have to do with anything? My folks had a large lot on Benedict Canyon road in Los Angeles/Beverly Hills. Sold it for a fortune. Took a TINY bit of that money and bought a quaint piece of property south of Hattiesburg that's fantastic, peaceful and very private.
We had a condo in San Francisco that used to be very nice but then the city became a garbage dump so we sold it for another ridiculous sum. San Francisco has become a cesspool of insanely overpriced concrete. Everyone we knew there got out while the gettin was good. It's a total freak show.

Again, there's a very small number of people that trade California for Mississippi. Especially those that had housing taken care of there. Again, if one is straight, conservative, white, cis, Christian, and conservative (or at least willing to agree that those things should be supreme) then Hattiesburg is doable. Most people who leave California do it for liberal areas in other states or within California.

I lived in California for 5 years. Housing was always the big cost. Once I got that sorted, I noted that my expenses were really only about 10 percent more than Texas. Including taxes. Now, this was San Diego, not SFO.

Most of the neighbors in LA were conservatives, other than a couple of entertainers who lived nearby. Same thing in SF, but that's not likely the case there now. More conservatives in California than any other state in the country, but I do understand your point.
