People might laugh, but with their academic rankings Tulane could conceivably start up a program and pull a bunch of kids out of real high-end eastern prep schools that can afford to pay their way just by promising them a spot on the team.
It's been discussed at length by the Tulane fan base. Our club lacrosse teams are popular, and actually New Orleans itself has a rapidly growing lacrosse scene at the high school level. But Tulane's athletic department is very particular about which sports it sponsors. Sailing is being made varsity because of a huge donation, and rumor has it men's golf will do the same soon. It'll be a while if we do ever add lax.

Tulane doesn't have men's golf? That seems surprising. And, given Tulane's national student body and general affluence, women's lacrosse seems a no-brainer.
