Don’t expect much pushback from the University on this “historical” ruling.

I doubt they needed much help with Pitino to begin with but this doesn't hurt.

One of two things happened leading up to the firing: Either an assistant coach committed violations with Pitino's knowledge or an assistant coach committed violations without his knowledge immediately after the program was cited for lack of institutional control. There is no third option and either is a justifiable reason to fire someone for cause.
