I get that there's something about face-to-face interaction but you don't need to be next door to each other to operate regularly. If you ever need a private meeting with no recordings or something, these guys are rich and beyond that likely have some kind of account from the conference to fly anywhere they want.

Sure you can tap into the expense account and fly to where ever if need be but not the same as being able to meet over coffee on an hour's notice. Sun Belt would be well served moving to Birmingham for example because the league contracts the SEC to provide football and men's basketball officials.
