Those who mention UTEP over NMSU what is the value of this. Full disclosure, I am an NMSU grad. In overall sports, except Cross Country and Track, NMSU is a stronger athletic program. Academics are not really a comparison as well. They are essentially in the same metro area, and getting UTEP is not at all like getting a "Texas" school. Las Cruces, NM (40 miles from ELP) is half way between Dallas and LA. It is not like UTEP would bring a lot of the "Texas" market. This boggles my Crimson colored mind.
