Most of them duplicate each other and mainly consist of the same TV shows and movies that have somehow entered the public domain. Once the initial thrill of "can i really access good programming for free?" wears off, you realize its mostly junk content, which is why it's free.
Gets boring scrolling through that mess very quickly.
Don’t you hide the channels you don’t want?
No, I don't add channels I do not want, and I delete ones that I thought I wanted but then realized I didn't.
The "scrolling through that mess" didn't refer to channels, it referred to scrolling through the available programs within a particular channel. You come to realize that many of these free Roku channels largely dupe each other, because they all have access to the same public domain programming.
E.g., Among streaming channels, I have access to Pluto and all the other free channels that Roku can access. I also have Netflix, ESPN+, and Hulu, which I pay for. I find myself watching Netflix and Hulu 97% of the time that I stream. The other 3% is ESPN+. Almost never one of the free channels.
Although to be fair, I do have some of them "in reserve". E.g., I have "BYU TV" on my list, because I've been told a BYU game or two might air on there this fall.
