Best case scenario they come back and challenge for a conference crown, put butts in the seats and increase the value of hoops in this conference. Worst case scenario is ... basically what's happening now, minus ten wins or so.

pastenr would be owed 9mill if fired, penny would cost a pretty penny...brown as an assistant would be pretty penny ...

there is a lot of financial down side ..if penny fails it will be close to a 20mil experiment

You mean Tubby.

Tubby is paid whether he stays or leaves. So that money is already committed, though payable over 6 yrs if he's fired rather than 3 if he stays.

Realistically, with no experience, I don't think Penny will command much, I'm guessing a million max, or less with lots of incentives. I am aware that KY would offer more than that as an assistant, but he's already indicated he's not interested in an assistant position. No idea what someone like Brown would cost, but I suspect if he's interested he knows full well he won't get paid as much as the HC.

Anyway, looking at it from a financial viewpoint, if hiring Penny increases season ticket sales by 5000, which I think it would, just do the math. I have no idea what those season tickets cost, but it would be substantial. Additionally, the $800,000 fee the Tigers will have to pay the Grizzlies this year for poor attendance goes away.

So, financially it's doable.
