That's a risk they have to take, though. There's always the chance Penny Hardaway becomes Clyde Drexler 2.0. and they have to burn it all down and start over. But he could also end up being Frank Martin 2.0. Martin was only hired by K-State to try and salvage a top-10 recruiting class after Bob Huggins left for WV, and he ended up becoming one of their most successful coaches ever.

Thats just it though. They SHOULDNT have to take that risk. Isn't Memphis a good enough job to get a proven, successful and current D1 coach as a replacement? Maybe it isn't the kind of job I thought it was.

elite programs take risks....kentucky hired cal knowing he was under investigation ... risk is not sign of a lesser program..IMO Willingness to abandon something good is bigger sign

Negatory. That was kept under wraps until UK had hired Cal. Otherwise, given the temp of the time, they would have had to pass.

Cal was always good at cutting and running before he got exposed.
