And the left wing laps it up.

George, do you feel that this approach is only found with Democrats? I think you see it with politicians of all stripes.

It may well be. I have to admit that I don't see or hear much Republican rhetoric.

George, you ever heard the phrase "Build the wall" be used?

What about ":insert progressive idea here: is a perfect example of socialism"? In this regard, I recently saw a suggestion that AOC paying her staffers $52,000 per year was socialism.

What about Obama taking our guns?

I'll give you that those on the right didn't claim the last two examples didn't mean anything, but I'm not sure if that's any better. They're still far right statements meant to score points with the right.

Well, Trump is doing his best to keep that campaign promise (Wall) instead of pulling the old bait 'n switch the Dems are doing with reparations. That's one difference.

Saying one will protect rights (guns) is not the same as promising financial windfalls.

So, not exactly apples to apples, more like apples to carrots.

But good tries, both of you.

The ol' bait and switch with reparations?

Where is the bait and switch at all? So far, all I've seen are articles where candidates talking about reparations are very clearly not suggesting that they pay people, but that they use other methods.

How does one do a bait and switch if the bait they're using is what they would eventually switch to???

Argue against the proposals all you want, but this is a really weird debate to have. We're debating whether or not the candidates, who are being fairly explicit about their potential policy proposals, are actually proposing those things.
