You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot make him eat spinach.

Why not mandate that people on food stamps must by 40 pounds of spinach per capita per year? That might be strongest incentive we could give them to go get a job.

That's 40 pounds of spinach in the trash, just to stay eligible for the free goodies.

Be good for spinach farmers though.

And using a certain logic, it would only cost about $10/person - practically nothing.
