Talk about making a mountain out of a molehill.....

Cap,
I agree with you that you would never get a lot of ECU posters on this board if Mongo was active. At least you definitely would not get any from the Boneyard and that continues to be the ECU board with the highest amount of traffic.
CUSABBS is a great resource for any CUSA fan to come and communicate about all things CUSA. This side board has a hand full of ECU fans and Mongo might post on here every once in a while but does not have a big presence.
Being so far away I like all the boards. If I want to know what is going on with ECU I go to the Boneyard. OTM has the best recruiting board with Pirate Illustrated Premium board. There are some great posters on there and I like reading about who is coming and going. If I want to know what is going on with CUSA or interact with different fans from CUSA there is no better place then CUSABBS.
Some personalities on all these boards can be abrasive to say the least. Lets face it, sports and message boards are one of the last bastions of acceptable immaturity for adults

The only thing I will say about Cap is he is a true blue Pirate supporter in every way. What he said about Mongo is accurate. I know you like Mongo for what ever reasons but it would be pretty unrealistic to think that any Pirate fan would rally behind the Mongo cause.
It would be like a Georgia Tech fan trying to accept a GT grad that does nothing but talk about how great Georgia is and how GT should move to Div1AA. Somehow when a member of your own family insults you it tends to run a little deeper and your resentment towards them runs deeper.
I am civil to Mongo and he is civil to me. I don't agree with him on ECU, Sports in general and definitely not politics, but that is why you come to boards like this, to hear other opinions.
I have read Mongo long enough and he has read my stuff long enough to know that neither of us will ever change. He has a different vision of ECU then 99% of our fan base. He has nothing invested in our future and has selected to root for a school that not many ECU fans, except fair weather Wal Mart fans, have any like for. I don't begrudge him for being a UNC fan. For all I care he can join the Ram Club and spend the rest of his life sipping on White Zinfandel and debating the greatness of UNC.
At ECU we have bigger fish to fry and at the end of the day Mongo and these boards have absolutely nothing to do with that future.

Cap and I differ on many things, but I don't particularly think he should be tossed under the bus for this. If you go back to my original post on this network, I am pretty sure I was calling Mongo out on the smack board.

Mongo has been the devil to many ECU fans, and some of it he deserved (the hijacking of and Pirate Club site comes to mind). My biggest problem with cap over here is that any time an expansion of ECU fans pops up, Cap chimes in to poo poo it with something very similar to what started this thread. He's become a one trick pony.

Not much to say, but that is all I got for now.

I had to register Democrat down here because there are no Republicans 03-puke
I forgot that we actually agree on some things Political. Actually it is Cap and I that are on opposite ends of the political spectrum but I like that. My all time favorite poster in ECU history is Wyld Pirate and he might be more hated then you. Only difference is he did not stab his own University in the back 05-stirthepot

I've said some things that 99% of the East Carolina fanbase don't agree with. - I still don't think ECU and the ACC are a good fit
- I don't think ECU and Big East is any better (but I'd be willing to contribute to the cause if she landed there as an all-sports member)
- I really don't like ECU and C-USA are a good fit. Too far spread out with no natural rivalries.

At the end of the day, the school I think ECU best fits with are the ones that currently play I-AA ball -- Appy State and Furman. Not to say ECU needs to drop down, but those are the schools that I think ECU identifies with. We'll always disagree on that, and that's fine. I won't harp on it to the degree I did 2 years ago.

As for my affection with the ACC -- I was an ACC fan before I went to ECU, was an ACC fan while I was at ECU, and continue to be a fan to this day. I disagree with having to take on the Carolina v. ECU political struggles. As far as I'm concerned, Carolina did nothing to hinder me getting a degree so those medical and dental school battles mean nothing to me.

Great men like Leo Jenkins already did the battle with UNC years ago. Fact is we won. We have our medical school and we will have our Dental school. Voters in the East have figured out that ECU plays a vital role in the economy of the entire East. The State Legislature can't ignore the Eastern part of the state or ECU any longer.
I dont worry about the politics because the region will continue to grow as will ECU and it's alumni. We can take care of ourselves and for the most part just need UNC and the Legislature to stay out of our way.
As for your Div1AA argument...almost nobody will ever agree with you on that one. ECU best relates to program like we recently scheduled. None of those schools you mentioned have much in common with ECU. They have small athletic programs with small budgets. Last weeks Marshall game and the 41k+ fans also seperate us from all of those schools. We will continue to grow and the gap will only get bigger between ECU and the Appy ST. Furman, JMU crowd.
At the same time ECU will close the gap with those we are chasing and those we want to affiliate ourselves with. The ACC will never happen but if you could wave a wand we would definitely be even with NCST and UNC overnight in football, would be dead even in baseball if not better fairly quickly and even our basketball would reach a level a decent mediocrity with NIT bids and an occasional NCAA.
Not going to happen but the BigEast might. If not we make our stand in CUSA and make the best of it by scheduling like Terry Holland has done.
If we were to go undefeated in football in the next ten years with our schedule we would be way ahead of the likes of Boise St. for a BCS bid so bottom line is ECU has a lot to play for.
CUSA is a great baseball conference, decent basketball and could be a strong football conference is we get our stuff together.

Of course, I am sure that you are part of the ACC conspiracy anyway! In fact you have single handedly turned it from just an ACC conspiracy to an ACC/SEC conspiracy.

Now I am running on virtually no caffeine and 3 hours sleep, but it made sense to me?

A request for PTNC to air his recent dealings with OTM ... share them with us, if you will.

And you bet ya, I'm so in John Swofford's back pocket. I mean, look at how good the ACC treated me by sending GT to play on a baseball field in the Emerald Bowl while letting 3 teams with a worse record (two by more than 2 or more games) get better bowls.

On the PTNC front.

1st ban issue w/ OTM, I no longer have my emails.. I beleive I deleted them after sitting around a few monts. I did get reinstated however.

2nd ban by OTM--Yes I still have my emails and such but will not make them public till I see fit. And lets just say I am not banned anymore for that site.

All I will say on the 2nd time in public is I called him on a ludacris statement. Emailed someone important to help w/ damage control. Said important person made a public statement (not 100% I was the sole reason..but I am sure I was partially responsible) about the situation. When that statement went public I made a sly remark that I might be behind it and got banned. OTM and I had a 2 wk long email discussion and I am no longer banned.

I will leave it at that. But I will say I stood my ground and presented a strong case for my point of view on the subject in question.

OTM also gave me info I did not know about as well. Now that I know...I can deal on some of his issues/rants a little better.

PTNC just doesn't like unfounded falsehoods being perpetuated as absolute truths on important Pirate matters.

Maybe OTM is growing up a little. When he banned me, without telling anybody, from PFN, he wouldn't even respond to my e-mails.

WEll on Rivals you can't PM or anything ( weak ) but I got it during the PFN days when they redid the site and my password wouldn't work. Had to get it via mingesmaniacs pm system.

Was I mad? Hell yeah! I emailed him because of the principle of the matter.

I pretty much agree with all of this - I don't have a problem with Cap, but it seems that every time he comes over here he either brings up or gets into it with Mongo. It gets just as old as when Jonesy responds to any semi-negative thing about ECU with our bowl history, attendance figures and Sagarin ratings.

I don't agree with a lot of things Mongo says and what he's done, but it's over with to me. It was a long time ago and he doesn't sit here and bash ECU (although his opinions on ECU to D-IAA are just as nutty to me as OTM's BCS conspiracy theories). As long as he doesn't bash ECU, I'm fine with him here. He's done nothing to me personally (that I'm aware of), and if he had, I'd take it off the boards, especially after a few years.

CUSABBs is a great board system....I've obviously been an active member of the community for a long time (was actually a moderator of THIS board when it first came up), and enjoy the CUSA and BE boards immensely.

That being said, I have a hard time stomaching folks bashing a true Pirate like Mark and cozying up to a guy like Derrek......I'll tell you, I felt a HUGE betrayal when Derrek did what he did - not only for ECU, but for myself. I considered Derrek a damn good friend, and it became obvious after the fact that Derrek's only best friend is Derrek.....so when I comment about him or that situation, it has nothing to do with unc-ch or conspiracies or anything of the like - it is personal with me and with ECU, and with someone I felt wronged by on those fronts. I have no problem laying off calling him out over here - It would just be nice to see PIRATES over here look out a little more for their own.....
