When is Western Kentucky going to make up its mind in which conference their football team is going to belong to. Sun Belt for all sports or Gateway Conference for football and Missouri Valley for all other sports. Make up your mind already!!!! It shouldn't take this long to make up your mind.

I tend to agree with you rocketfootball, without knowing anything for sure I just think that for whatever reason WKU officials don't see a future in the Sunbelt Conference. My personal opinion is that if WKU were going to remain in the Sunbelt long-term, that a committment would have been made in some way or another. The next couple years should prove to be very interesting with the landscape of conference affilations nationwide.

I don't believe that or the WKU administration is blowing serious smoke up everyone's rear at league meetings (in which case everyone would be well served if WKU left).

What I do think is that WKU has a fan base that has had a distaste for the Belt ever since being left behind from the Metro and Great Midwest raids and athletic programs that already recruit in MAC areas.

A shift to the MAC isn't going to garner WKU any more more or TV time, but at least it convinces the fans something positive is happening and frankly that is vital to any program. I believe it was the root cause of TCU going to the MWC. They needed to not be back with the programs they had left behind in the WAC, just as WKU probably needed to pursue the Horizon or such when the old Sun Belt died.

I know a lot of WKU fans hate the Belt, but the Sun Belt leadership has worked hard for WKU. It was after all Wright Waters who put WKU and the Gateway together when the OVC gave WKU a join in all sports or be expelled for football mandate. It was also the Sun Belt that gave WKU's president the honor of representing the Sun Belt in the BCS financial meetings.

You may well be right arkstfan, I don't know anything for certain as far as what WKU is thinking. I've heard some rumblings from various people within WKU, so it's hard to tell what will wind up happening. Hopefully everything gets settled in the not too distant future.
