Question for Hilltopper fans???
Okay, I am very much in favor of 1A football at WKU, I am excited and pumped about it. But just for the sake of arguement WHAT IF they took the extra $3.5 million a year that they were going to spend on 1A football and put it into the basketball program?

Just think what we would be giving up here...

I think that the #1 and #2 things holding back our hoops is that we can't pay to keep a coach when we have a good one, and we can't put all of our games on the HSSN (to build our fan and recruiting base). $3.5 million a year could certainly fix both of those. You could also add some capacity back to Diddle and run adds to sell those extra seats. And you would probably have plenty left over after that. Would those kinds of changes make us "big time" again? And if it would, is Sunbelt football worth giving that up for? After all, nobody denies that we are a "basketball school."

Any thoughts on this?

The #1 and #2 thing that is holding us back is UK and UL. They are big time college basketball and we have to fight to get their table scraps. Unitl we can prove that we belong in the NCAA tourney year in and year out, that is not going to change other's view on our program.

UK and UL? Really? Did they cause us to lose to Arizona or S. Alabama last year?

What if Ralph Willard had never left? Do you think we could have "proved that we belong in the NCAA tourney year in and year out" if he had stayed? Cause I think that $3.5 million could have hooked that up and then some. That's my point. The coach IS the program. Until we pay good coaches competitively they will go elsewhere. Pay a bigtime coach, and WKU will be BIGTIME.

Incidently, I believe that Darrin Horn IS a bigtime coach less someone misinturpret this. If we don't pay him compettively I fear we will lose him to the University of We Bought Your Coach.
