Lucky for you, we will only beat you once this year, and that game will be in Chapel Hill. Based on last week's performance, I'll predict right now that we lose 4 regular season games this year...max.

Santa Clara was ages ago. I'd rather that happen the first game of the season, under the circumstances that it did (Ray out, freshman PG starting, on the road), than have it happen at any other time. I think it will truly be a blessing in disguise because it probably embarrassed our guys and gave Roy their full attention. A sloppy win would not have done that.
This team could have been in serious trouble yesterday when Virginia Tech was controlling tempo and hanging close in the first half. Instead, they took over the game. And, McCants only scored three points.
This was the most impressed I've been with them all year. When they turned on that killer instinct toward the end of the first half, they didn't turn it off again until the game was well out of hand. That's what we needed to do last year at Maryland... and FSU... and Virginia.
I'm still not completely sold on this team, nor do I think we're in the clear from here on out. I'm worried about two things: 1) a let-down (we're about due for one), and 2) our next big road test. Truthfully, all the conference road games we have left worry me, because we've lost at each place in the past two years.
For now, I'm hopeful about this season. They've already proven something to me they didn't last year -- that they can take care of business on the road against a lesser opponent.

For as good as we looked the end of that Maryland game, the psyche of this team is still very fragile. The fact is that we struggled for most of the first half against Maryland. Of course, then we turned it up and blew Maryland out of the building.
I've seen us struggle for a bit in quite a few games now before we turn on the switch. My worry is that one of these games, we won't turn on that switch. If we meet a team that's mentally tough and can hang with us, we just might get frustrated enough to lose. We have yet to see how this team can handle being down in the second half (except against Santa Clara).
I think this week should tell us something. While I still worry a lot about the Tech game, I still say that is a game we should win (since it's at home). If we lose, we have something major to worry about. The Wake game, though, will tell us a lot about the mental toughness of this team. Going into Lawrence Joel and pulling out a win would be huge.
