Generally, there is no public sale of regular season tickets unless the students are out on break or something like that. There are some special games that tickets are available for through the ticket office. There is often an opportunity to buy a ticket or two outside before the game. (That's even true at the dook game, but they'll cost an arm and a leg).
Try these numbers for further information.

Good luck!

so you dont think i will be able to get tickets for the kentucky/unc game unless i get them from a scalper.........is there usually plenty of people selling tickets before the game or is it rare? i know at cardinal games and professional sports around here there are a lot of people trying to sale tickets........btw i live just 30 min away from Tyler hansborough and watched him play about 5 games last year........ well thanks for any help

What did you think about seeing Tyler in person? I don't always follow the recruiting hype that message board posters throw around (because most of us are getting secondhand information). But, I am interested in seeing what people have seen firsthand. Is he all he's been hyped up to be?
Bomber is on the money about tickets. The Kentucky game will be tough to get a ticket to because it's Kentucky and it's on the weekend. In general, it's much harder to get a ticket to a weekend game. I remember one year how surprised I was that a non-conference game against some piddly school on a Saturday had a much larger crowd than an ACC game during the week.
Even so, you can always buy tickets outside the door. I was able to snag a ticket to the Connecticut game two years ago for a decent price. What you're really going to want to do is buy from a fan and not from a scalper, if possible. The best thing to do sometimes is stand in front of the Dean Dome and wait for the Tar Heel Express buses to pull up and let people off. See if you can get a ticket off someone there. And -- more often than not -- the older the fan, the better the price.
There's always another possibility when buying tickets to sold-out games: e-Bay. I always keep an eye on how much tickets to UNC-dook games run on there. I'm sure some Kentucky tickets will show up on there as well.
Hope some of that helps.

What J. D. said! I haven't been able to go to games recently and his perception of the situation is much more current than mine would be.
