I think he have to improve his scoring ability, i also hope he can stay one more year to be a model of Quentin Thomas . In this stage , it may be bad for him to enter NBA.
I guess we maybe lose McCants and May this offseason.

i don't think we lose anyone in the offseason. from what i've heard roy has done a great job of trying to get everyone to stay. felton is in no way ready for the nba. neither is may. and while rashad's game has grown by leaps and bounds, i really don't think he's ready for the nba either. and i'm sure the guys aren't dumb, they see how good we could be next year if everyone comes back. and i would hope that even though that $$ from the nba looks good, they would still want to win a national championship at unc

The only one I can possibly see us losing at this point is Rashad.
May isn't going anywhere. He's done some nice things, but he's not NBA-ready. He needs to lose some more weight and add some more muscle in the off-season.
Rashad may go pro, even though I think he's got some things to work on (and I'm not saying this because I selfishly want him to stay). Rashad's handle could be greatly improved. He tried a move last night where he was going between the legs -- or something -- and it turned out to be a turnover and fast break the other way for Clemson. Rashad makes some dumb decisions with the ball sometimes. I think he has shined at times this year, but there will still be a question mark about his attitude and/or ability to show up every night (fair or not). I guess that's part of the downside to going pro early -- you've shown that you have a ton of potential, but you haven't shown consistency. In Rashad's case, I think it would help him a great deal to come back next year and prove that he can show up to play every night.
Ray has also shown flashes here and there, but I've been a little disappointed with his decision-making this year. I think there have been times when it would've been wise for us to slow down the tempo and get a good shot, but Ray tried to push it and he ended up turning the ball over. He's been careless with a lot of passes -- trying to make a halfcourt or three-quarters-court pass when it wasn't necessary. He just tries to force things too much. I know Roy wants to get the ball out and get the break going, but there comes a time when you realize that something just isn't a good decision. I have no doubt that Ray is a smart fella, so that just leads me to believe that it's just his youth showing there.
So, like I said, Rashad is really the only one with a chance to go pro at this point. And, that's probably the one we could most afford to lose (with J.R. Smith and possibly JamesOn Curry coming in next year at his position).

McCants is the only one that MAY leave. Felton and May will be back as I expect McCants to be. In other words, be scared, be very scared!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rashad may go. He would be the only one. May cannot guard college kids, Ray is not going to be a lottery pick and is not ready. Ra could play for a lot of NBA teams right now. His D is much improved and would only get better. JR will step right into his shoes so we will be OK if he goes. How is it going Malaysak? :roflol:

I agree that May and Felton aren't going anywhere. IMO, if McCants leaves, it would be a big mistake a la Joseph Forte a few years ago. McCants is a little more developed than Forte was, but I still don't think he'd last long in the NBA.

you guys are wishful thinkers. I think Felton is gone, and if he was smart he'd do just that. He is the second best pg in the country and is a guaranteed lottery pick. Anytime you're a guaranteed lottery pick, you should go.
There is no way McCants and/or May are going. Those guys aren't even close to ready.
Also, Tarheelsben, if you think they would rather win a championship then get a big payday you're not seeing clearly. A good example is rasheed wallace.

Raymond just got third-team All-ACC. He may be the second-best PG in the country, but he's had a subpar year. He certainly has a lot of potential, which he's played up to some of the time. But, he still makes too many mistakes for an NBA team to use a lottery pick on him. And, his outside shot isn't consistent enough (yet).
If a team does pick him that high, they will be drafting purely on potential. Not that NBA teams never do that -- because they certainly do -- but Raymond has shown his hand more than a high-school PG like, say, Shaun Livingston. He's shown enough for me (and NBA scouts) to see that he has a lot to work on.

wow, what's your source there swooshie? if felton was in the draft this year i would see him going late in the first round, i really don't see how you could justify him being a "guaranteed lottery pick" after this season. while i don't think rashad is ready for the nba, i think he is more ready than felton is.

I agree totally. Felton is an incredible player but even in the ACC he get's schooled by bigger PG's (Jack and JG). How would he possibly match up in the nba? I would guess with all the press that he gets that he would go in the middle-late 1st round. I don't think he will go until he is guaranteed a top 10 draft. Money talks!
On the other hand McCants is gone! He plays no defense but there is no defense in the nba. I personally don't think he will be all that good in the nba but with the draft as weak as it looks, he will go pretty high. He is leading the best conference in the nation and that will help. Besides, he needs the money to treat his STD's.
May will go to the NBA only if he is forcasted in the top 10...I don't think that will happen. Maybe next year.

I have heard varying reports over the past few days, the prospects of May, Felton and McCants are a very hot topic among NBA scouts and GMs.
My gut feeling is that all three of them will stay. May will definitely stay, the weakness in his on the ball defense showed during the tourney, and his stock dropped significantly. Felton will also stay, he is a mid first round pick right now. McCants, as you all have alluded to, is the bigest question mark. He is also about a mid to late first round pick, but another season in college would help.
This upcoming draft does not appear to be particularly strong, it will be interesting to see how that plays into these three young men's decisions.

This was taken directly from the Washington Post...
I still think theres a little bit to worry about, after McCants has had time to think about it. I also think this year left a bad taste in his mouth, and for some reason, he doesn't seem like a player that likes that too much. I expect him to come back and erase that taste next year.
Quote:North Carolina swingman Rashad McCants, the ACC's leading scorer, said emphatically following the Tar Heels' loss to Texas on Saturday in a second-round game in Denver, that he would return to school for his junior season. "I'm definitely coming back," he said. "We're going to have a great team next year."
As I might add, we might not have JR or Marvin next year, so please don't count your eggs before they're hatched. JR is having acedemic problems, and Marvin still may go pro. Maybe we could start a 3 year prgram for our dumb b-ball players like Duke has... haha!!

JR will be in Carolina Blue next year. Marvin, OTOH, remains to be seen.

I saw that both of them beasted it in the Roundball Classic. Too bad I missed it, I am hoping they replay it here in this area. Let me know if you have any idea if they are.

JR will really help us by being another threat to score in a variety of ways. We really didn't have enough playmakers this past year -- guys who could create their own shot. Felton kinda did that (although not as well as I think he can)... and McCants tried to a lot. Of course, I don't want to fall into one-on-one basketball, but sometimes you need those playmakers.
Hopefully, next year, we won't have to worry about lineups like Sanders-Bohlander-Terry-Manuel-Scott out on the floor. I mean, I always wondered when Roy put teams like that out on the floor where the points were going to come from. Melvin can shoot sometimes -- but, when he's running the point, he's not really looking to shoot.
With two good scorers like McCants and Smith, we should have firepower out on the floor at all times.
As for Marvin W., I think we need him in the worst way. Our one big weakness next year will the inside game. It will only be bigger if Marvin decides to go pro. He would sure help alleviate a lot of the scoring, rebounding, and shotblocking load down low if he came. If he doesn't come, then I think Roy needs to find another big man to fill the spot -- even if it's just a role player. We can't afford to go through another year of relying solely on Sean... because that ain't gonna cut it.
