With the new colleges joining the ACC it will split into divisions. Has anyone happened to hear who is in which division?

Well, the official invites to the new schools haven't gone out yet, so it's still not a done deal.

Every media outlet in the country has come up with their pet version of divisions, some being the same for football & basketball, some being different. The ACC has not divulged what the divisional structure would be should the schools choose to join. My guess is that there is still power brokering going on behind the scenes at the Home Office.

I think if they do it with different divisions for different sports then it will be really messed up and confusing. Two divisions all the way out would be good.

No...the whole thing is not a "done deal"...but does anyone really
believe that the announcement would have been made without
the chances being 99% of a done deal.

The league will have 12 teams in 2004!

Well, if it isn't Contradiction Boy come a'calling. Make up your mind, Paul...in the ACC Conference talk forum you pretty much said that 3 teams from the ACC would be leaving for the Big East, and here you're saying the ACC will be 12 teams in 2004...you can't have it both ways because we're gonna call you on it one way or the other. 03-wink

Paul I also heard that instead of Duke it would be North Carolina State and Wake Forest in one and Duke and North Carolina in the other one. If we do get North Carolina State, looking at our division we could possibly when our division for basketball.

I could live with those divisions, given that we are designated rivals with dook. I think those divisions are about as balanced as you can get with a true geographical split.

I've seen dook paired with us in the North a lot, but putting State in the North and dook in the South would give the North more football strength and the South more basketball strength. However, I'm sure FSU and Miami wouldn't like having both Wake and dook in their division. We all know that Wake is no longer a patsy, but I'm not sure they do yet. They might perceive a division of Wake and dook as bringing down their SOS.

From a UNC perspective, I wouldn't be happy losing the annual football game (and two basketball games) with Wake, but I'd much rather have those with State and dook than Wake -- no offense. And, it seems like we're only going to get two out of the three.

I'm still holding out hope that the Big Four will be put in one division, but I don't think that's likely. I fully expect for all of us to get screwed in this process, so I'm expecting a division of UNC, Wake, Miami, BC, Syracuse, and Tech or something like that....

As usual Lucy..."You struggle with comprehension of the
English Language!"

I believe if you reread the post...this time a little slower...
You will see that what I wrote was...The ACC will expand.

BUT IF IT DOESN'T...Then three teams will be leaving the
ACC for the Big East.

That's why this stuff got started 2 years ago.

More revenue and more money.

I believe after all the flak, BS, and infighting we've seen in the past month from the Big East, there won't be anyone leaving the ACC for the Big East...

Lucy...

FSU and a Tech...BOTH came forward during the Conf
Call and announced that they were GONE...if there is
no ACC expansion.

Do they bring someone with them or not...who knows.
Clemson was also a driving force behind expansion.

But within the next few years...FSU and Tech will be in a
league with Split Divisions, a League Championship Game
and greater revenues.

Whether it is the ACC...Big East...Or some other, yet
non-existent league...IT WILL HAPPEN!

btw: I get under your skin...Don't I, Sugar? :pooh:

Just not gonna happen. Internet message boards breed all sorts of rumors and ignorant people (and lazy journalists) fall for them. Dave Braine said that there was no truth to that rumor about Tech. He should know.

"C'mon Lucy...

"You're not ignorant..."

Perhaps a story to paraphrase the situation.

When Chelsa Clinton returned home from College...
Her momma asked her. "Have you met any boys?"

Well, 'Ol homely Chelsa replied..."I SURE HAVE!"

A worried, equally homely Momma...Then quizzed...

"You're not having sex with them...ARE YOU!"

And Chelsa Pooh responded........................................

"Not according to Dad!"
