 Welcome to our humble abode!
Always good to see more Wake fans around the joint...
So...what do you think our chances are against Tech in the opening round of the ACC baseball tourney on Wednesday? I figure we'll be pitching Sleeth. Word Friday night at the Tech game was that Tech's starter will be either Micah Owings or Kyle Bakker. Lately Owings has really turned on the heat, so I don't know if we'll see another Kyle/Kyle matchup like we did 1st game of the Wake/Tech series this year. Would love to see our guys get at least one more win to close out the year...

I'll chime in while I'm over here...
Your chances? Joo have no chance against the Beesballers. Seriously though, Wake might just be the toughest #7 seed in tournament history (BTW, didn't they win it as a 5 or 6-seed in the late '90s?). Even though we beat Sleeth the first time around, the guy scares me. I hope we decide to go with Bakker in the opener. Last year, we held him back until the 2nd game and it backfired on us.
Any chance of the Deacs making the field of 64 this season?

Yes, Wake's 1998 championship was won as the 5-seed.
Sleeth is a phenomenal player & I hope he'll be able to lead the team to victory on Wed. He's getting some much deserved recognition of late too: He is the first Wake player ever named a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, given to college baseball's top player. And these stats help to tell the story:
Quote:Earlier this year, Sleeth, a native of Westminster, Colo., tied the NCAA record for consecutive winning decisions with 26 earlier this season. He owns a 7-2 record as a junior with a 2.76 earned run average. Sleeth has struck out 97 hitters in 88 innings while opposing hitters are batting just .218 against him.
With a 29-22 overall record, and 8-15 in the ACC, I don't see us in the CWS unless we win the tourney. :frown:

Thanks for the welcome, guys
I don't follow Wake baseball as much as in the past. I mostly like basketball and football.

Never fear, we'll get some discussion going on those sports as well as we get closer to the seasons. Or feel free to start up some topics on your own. Fresh ideas & viewpoints are most welcome. :)
