IMHO.........

*** If AJ Suggs starts for Georgia Tech ***
1) Virginia - I really hate Groh's ability to recruit
2) Maryland - Fridge is Fridge
3) NC State - Rivers does his thing
4) Florida State - The rest of the conf. has not only caught up, but is passing St. Bobby
5) Wake Forest - Grobe does so much with so little
6) Clemson - Bowden on the hot seat
7) Georgia Tech - Striving for mediocrity
8) Duke - Out of the gutter, a la Bunting's Blunders
9) North Carolina - Helllllllooooo cellar

*** If Bilbo starts for Georgia Tech ***
1) Virginia - I really hate Groh's ability to recruit
2) Maryland - Fridge is Fridge
3) Georgia Tech - Bilbo shows he's the future
4) NC State - Rivers does his thing
5) Florida State - The rest of the conf. has not only caught up, but is passing St. Bobby
6) Wake Forest - Grobe does so much with so little
7) Clemson - Bowden on the hot seat
8) Duke - Out of the gutter, a la Bunting's Blunders
9) North Carolina - Helllllllooooo cellar

I love the low expectations -- 'twould make it that much more fun if we finished near the top of the conference....

1) NCState - Everyone is back, except Holt

2) UMD - QB is now experienced, Fridge is recruiting

3) UVA - Grobe doing great job of recruiting, players are young, will make mistakes

4) GaTech - Only if our QB, whoever it is, is consistent, and is a leader, not a throw-the-game-away-er

5) FSU - Good recruiting, yet most players are young. Rix is a question mark

6) UNC - This will be their comeback season, count on it, no one likes to only win vs. Duke, heads up for this team

7) Wake - Big year, but lose Pace, MacPherson, and Williams. Have good young running backs, especially Chris Barcaly, he's something special

8) Duke - will get their first win in the ACC in a LONG time over...

9) Clemson - Say goodbye to Bowden. A down recruiting year, and no defense. It will be a long year for the Tiger faithful

You mean to tell me that you guys are picking FSU to finish that low? FSU just had two down years. They will be back. But I don't think with Rix as QB.

As for Tech, I don't even want to think about next year.

At least the ACC should be better all around than this year.

You'll see... many people coming off redshirts... only losing 1 senior... a lot of close losses this year... you'll see...

BTW, I thought there was "no way" Duke could come within 15 points of Tech?

According to Nate, Wake Forest would finish last in the ACC this season, and Duke would be 8th.

While we won't lose that many starters next year, the ones we do lose are pretty big names: "Thunder Dan" Burnette, T. Holt, Shawn Price, Bryan Peterson, etc. I think we'll have plenty of talent to reload however.

Terence Holt is the man who almost single-handedly beat GA Tech. I think Chuck Amato has a curse. They won't be tops in the league. But I do think they will be in the top 3.

My top 3:
Maryland
NC State
Florida St

Dark Horse:
Virginia

Bottom Feeders:
Duke
Wake
Clemson
GA TECH :(
NC

I agree Virginia and Maryland will be TOUGH.

Had a chance to beat Virginia too, but oh well.

I agree.

AJ Suggs (      ) is the man who single handedly defeated big bad NCSU -- on their homecoming in Raliegh none-the-less!!

Rix is actually a very good quarterback. Did you see how he destroyed the Florida gators? He is certainly better than the backups. And we will have less selfish receivers out there this coming year.

GTS - go ahead and think that the rest of the conference has passed St. Bowden by... boy, will you be in for shock

:bang:

1.) Florida State - They know how to cheat, get away with it, lose 4 games, and still win the conference.

2.) Maryland - Fat Fridge doesn't have the best talent in college football, he's just the best head coach in the ACC. If Krispy Kremes promises a few dozen everytime Maryland wins ... UM just may overtake FSU.

3.) NC State - Amato sets forth the mofia on the other head coaches in the league, but has little success when it is all said and done. Rivers still throws like my sister and Amato is penalized 15 yards every game in which he wears those stupid sunglasses. Get a bra, Amato.

4.) Clemson - I really enjoy all the posts about Bowden being on the hot seat. Word from sources is he has at least 1 more year after this and I tend to agree. Recruiting did not go too swell, but he has a lot of talent on the offensive side of the ball returning. Defense turned heads in the Spring. In years past, the UGA game has decided the outcome of the rest of the season so the 1st game of the year vs. UGA in the Valley becomes HUGE. Plus, did you really expect me to put my Tigers lower than 4th? lol

5.) UVA - The miracle ride, lucky breaks, sneaking up on people comes to an end when All Pro Groh realizes he must now wear decent clothes on the sideline instead of the freaking sweat pants and sweat shirts he always wears. UVA will play everyone close, but the the breaks won't fall their way this season.

6.) Georgia Tech - If Bowden is on the hot seat, Gailey ain't too far behind. Will Suggs of ***** start at QB? Will the GT defense be able to hold teams while the inconsistent Tech offense sputters? Of course, the real question is, did the renovations at Bobby Dodd do anything to help the pitiful restrooms and sight lines?

7.) UNC - Well, at least they got Roy Williams. A lot of youth returns for UNC so that's a bright spot? Right? Of course, it's the same youth that got spanked up and down the field last season. They'll be improved, but the conference is too loaded for them to make any noise. Hold tight to your BABY Blue Tarheels and pray the Blue/White basketball scrimmage comes soon!

8.) Wake Forest - Grobe is probably one of the best up and coming coaches in America. Wake Forest will grind out the running game, while Wake offensive linemen illegally block on 95% of the plays they will run this season. In the end, who cares? Grobe replaces a lot of experience and that's gonna' leave a mark when it's all said and done.

9.) Duke - Why I even bother to mention Duke in this post is beyond me. Does Duke play ANY other sport well besides basketball? No, seriously, I am asking. My only regret is the game is being played in Death Valley this year and not at Wallace Wade. No 50 yard line seats for me this year. :(

I reserve the right to edit/change/add anything to my current rankings as summer workouts progress.

ACC 2003

1-NC State (oh God, why do we play at Raliegh this season?!)
2-Virginia
3-Maryland
4-Florida State
5-Georgia Tech
6-Wake Forest
7-Clemson
8-UNC
9-Duke (we play them as well Sept.6th)

Should be another interesting year in the ACC. Good luck!

Us Dukies keep up with football, we even keep up with football stats, for instance:

The 2002 UNC football team set a new NCAA record by allowing 100 yds rushing to 11 different running backs.

How was that?

Keep sleeping on Duke... Hey Clemson fan... was Duke not leading y'all in the 4th quarter this year? And if not for a couple of miraculous plays... Duke would have won.

Duke will not finish 9th in the conference... anyone wanna make a bet?

Wow. That argument sounds similar to the arguments made by our "rival" on a daily basis. Yes, you guys played us tough and even lead in the 4th quarter. It took an excellent comeback by Charlie Whitehurst and the offense to pull out the win. Yet anothe win vs. Duke in FB. Congratulations on leading our 7-5 football team in the 4th quarter.
