I was listening to one of the Sound Opinions podcasts while I was cleaning up last night and they played a bit of Lefties Soul Connection. Good funk/soul stuff. Check 'em out. http://www.myspace.com/leftiessoulconnection

They're from Amsterdam. The song "Organ Donor" is a cover of a dj Shadows tune from the 90s, which sampled some memphis soul song from the 60s.

i've been listening to a lot of Be, lately. Common's last album is his best IMO. Kanye and Jay Dilla dominated the production.

Went to the Ben Kweller concert here last night. He's gone soft. . . The crowd kinda confused me. I'm used to the college scene, and I come home to Atlanta to this show and see a guy with a newcastle, next to a group of teenagers with their dad.

Hymn was first, and I never really have liked that style. The sound everyone I run into seems to like.

But next up was the Sam Roberts Band. They had some good rock throwback with some good beats to add flavor. I really enjoyed their show and music.

Sam Roberts has some good tunes. I've always wanted to see him live.

I've been listening to this Replacements tribute record the last couple days. It's pretty good.

You can hear the record here: http://www.punknews.org/bands/wellinherittheearth

I have been listening to David Bazan (Fewer moving Parts) and the Headphones (self-titled). Bazan used to go by the band name Pedro the Lion.

Hey Dyno, you hear about last nites Wilco show? Apparently some drunken idiot dumped on stage and danced around and then tried to touch Tweedy. Tweedy then proceeded to put him in a choke hold and escort him over to security himself. 05-mafia Seriously tho, after the whole Dimebag incident, performers cant take chances. Apparently it was a real rowdy and drunken crowd. I guess he handled it reallly well though.

What I've been listening to:

I did not hear about that. I'll have to look it up.

Speaking of Dimebag, did you see the behind the music with that? It was chilling. I'm not a Pantera fan. So, I had no interest in watching it, but I came across it and it sucked me in. What a tragedy. Just stupid.

Speaking of what you're listening to right now, what do you think of the Beck record? Oh, and the first one on your list isn't showing up.

+1 on the Beck. Is the new album any good? He has been hit or miss on some of his newer material.

I saw a picture of Beck "and friends" recentley, and Devendra Banhart was in there. Is Banhart on the new Beck record? I can't see them two on a song together, but I'd love to.

Heres the Wilco report.
http://www.pitchforkmedia.com/article/ne...Wilco_Show
from what people have said, pitchfork has blown it out of proportion. the whole thing has turned into a game of telephone. but he definitely took matters into his own hands.

The first album i've got there is Stan Getz/Joao Gilberto. Outstanding Bossa Bonva album, and one of the best selling jazz albums of all time. One of the few to actually gain popular appeal while still appealing to true fans. If you ever want something to relax to on the weekend or after work to just ease the nerves, this is it.

I really like the new Beck album. I wasnt a huge fan of Guero, but this is definitely a great album to me. Pretty much covers all of Beck's bases. The production is awesome. If anything, the album is a little too long and could use a trim. The first half is extremely strong, and it tapers off a little bit at the end. If you like Beck's other stuff, you'll definitely like it. Not a masterpiece, but def one of the best of the year IMO.
