So LL, I was talking to this amatuer astronomer at the Grand Canyon last week, and he says Pluto isn't a planet. What are your thoughts?? And thanks for posting s*&t like this, I really like this, but am too lazy to look it up on my own.

um, I guess thats a compliment.

alot of astronomers believe that Pluto is a planet. probaly an equal number think it isnt. Nasa repeatly on their website says there are nine planets, on the map of the solar system it has Pluto as a planet. so I figure if the United States space agency considers it a planet it is. so anything equaly big is also a planet. another sign is that it has a moon.

http://www.nhc.com is for the national hurricane service btw

Yeah that was a compliment. My vocab is very limited. I remember my Astronomy prof was pissed that it's still listed as a planet. And if it's a moon, whose satelite is it?

Pluto's moon is Charon. Pluto rotates the Sun at an odd angle from the rest of the planets. I consider it a planet because NASA does. I figure they would know things like that.

Maria went to a Tropical storm yesterday, but it has become a hurricane again. Nate has become a Hurricane and Bermuda is under a TS warning and hurricane watch.

Nate missed Bermuda. Maria looks like it will hit Iceland with atleast 65 mph winds (strong tropical storm) head on

Ophelia is still headed for South Carolina

LL, are you, by chance, a meteorologist? You are always on the ball with these hurricanes. Either that or you're into destruction.

I got lots of family and friends on the coast and in FL. so I keep up with them. and being in storms is kinda exciting. I was down in FL when Charley hit last year. I went out in the storm leaning into the wind-that was awesome.

I also help in the relief work (moved to FL for four months last year) so I aint a total freak...

I have always been interesting in those big storms. I have recently found websites that track all cyclones in the world. so now I even can keep up with typhoons and such.

Typhoon Khanun is headed for China. it was gonna hit Tawain-but has swung east. its the 15th storm this season.

now that we are back from Cancun.

Ophelia still aint hit. looks like it will be a coastal event. the eye will probaly make landfall near Atlantic Beach where friends have a beach house. then travel up thru to Nags Head, where friends live. it will take all day-only moving 3 mph. they believe it will strength into a hurricane before landfall
