I received this e-mail today. It was an obvious fake because I don't have a BOA account. Here is the e-mail. If you receive this e-mail, do not follow any of the instructions, and contact Bank Of America if you have any questions. It shows as being from support@bankofamerica.com, but if you check the return path, it is obviously not.
Quote:Dear Bank Of America Account Holder:
We recently noticed one or more attempts to log in to your
BOA online account from a foreign IP address and
we have reasons to believe that your account was hijacked by
a third party without your authorization.
If you recently accessed your account while traveling, the unusual
log in attempts may have been initiated by you. In this situation we
have no way other then block your online account temporarily.
However, if you are the rightful holder of the account,
click on the link below and unblock your account
https://onlineid.bankofamerica.com/cgi-bin/...ogin.controller - this is a link in the e-mail, and sends to a different website
The log in attempt was made from:
IP address: 89.12.210.241
ISP host: united-dq04.proxy.pak.asia.com
If you choose to ignore our request, you leave us no choice but to temporarly
suspend your bank account.
**Please do not respond to this e-mail as your reply will not be received
Thanks for your patience as we work together to protect your account.
Regards,
Security Department
Bank Of America
It doesn't want you to reply, because after you send it, it will show you the real address. These guys did a good job, but I don't have a Bank of America account. It says they will suspend your account...call your bank..I'm sure they can confirm the fake.
Anyways..I thought that I would warn you all of that.
