This caused the board to go down. As soon as I added this name to the ban filter, it happened.

GTS, can you explain why this happened once you find out?

The ' become \\' when put into the config file... \ is an escape/illegal character, causing the reading of the file to go bad.

I know -- it's a problem in Invision. It's most likely a typo. An escape character ( \ ) is needed before every ( ' ) -- because ( ' ) signifies the end of a line. But Invision threw in two. So the config file that meant ( \' ) .. which would be interpreted as that special character... then end line. But the rest of that guys name is still on the line... "m c*ck sucka" was hanging out there in no mans land, and that caused a parse error.
