Well, apparently those new fangled iPods, iRivers, iTunes, Rios, and other such tools of pirates wanting to destroy the music industry ... uhh... well... sell quite well. So well, that the RIAA now wants to seriously bump up the price of wholesale music sold online. And they wonder why CD sales are a down and they are one of the most hated organizations in America. I still assert that I will never buy an RIAA related product again. For the iTunes/iPod fans.... Steve Jobs was pissed at the announcement.

Quote:The music industry is apparently unhappy with Apple's increasing share of the market - the firm sells about 65 per cent of songs sold online. The arrival of cheaper iPods is likely to give the firm an even larger share of the market. Apple refused to comment on the FT's story but Steve Jobs is reportedly deeply unhappy with the attempted price hike.

Seeing the light yet, Ben?

The explanation I heard for the increased sales of music (not CDs) was because of iTunes and similar on-line services. It has revamped an industry that was floundering. Curiously, the RIAA was never in support of such services.

I also find it curious that the RIAA is trying to make these sales more difficult, because they are looking out for the lowly technicians and such. Reining in these sales will just cut money to these folks, and yet the RIAA is all about these kinds of people.
