Penn State had a player charged with felony aggravated assault and 3 counts of simple assault. University policy prohibits him from being on the team, and JoePa wouldn't allow it. The university judicial affairs office is deciding if he should be banned from attending the university at all. JoePa is quoted as saying "hopefully he doesn't get the death sentence."

But, the most important quote I read from the Blue and White Illustrated's season preview was when Joe was asked if he would give Humphrey a second chance (knowing that the young man avoided the felonious assault charge by plea bargaining). Joe Paterno's response, " You gotta give the kid a chance to prove he made a mistake and he's learned from it."

Let's see, whose words do you respect more; a writer for the Toledo Blade, or one of the most, if not the most, respected men in college football. Paterno is lauded for the way he handles kids. I think I will take Paterno over Harris.

Mea Culpa. This should be in the MAC section.
