True money does keep you out of living in boxes on the street. So do you need to be paid $2 million right out of high school? No. If you wait and go to college, the money will still be there two, three, four years later. Meanwhile go to college and get an education. All of these guys will be on scholarship. It can't hurt.

Meanwhile, this is hurting the NBA and college ball. Nobody has addressed that.

how many NBA coaches have shoe contracts. Also, how many NBA players get steered to certain teams based on shoe affiliations?

everything about pro sports is about sponsers. 90% of the staduims are sponsered. look at PGA and Nascar-they are covered head to foot in sponsers. so if you hate college sports cuz of Nike, then you should hate pro sports even more.

I think all sports are exciting, college and pro. And they would be even more exciting if high school players went to college. That is the point.

i have always agreed with you on that point. But my point was that there is no point for most of these guys to go to college.

what incentive is there to go to college, just b/c it will make college and pro sports more intereting?

Yes. It is about the sport and the fans, not the individual.

why should the players look out for the fans before they look out for themselves?

Because without the fans, there is no game. Selfishness. Not a good quality. The game needs the fans more than they need the players. We play games for entertainment.

the fans will always show up. Also, a large portion of the fans like this new kind of one on one, high flying style.

not around these parts

fans are getting tired of the hockey players fights, so they are not attending. the more the game disolves, the more the fans will disolve.

that's because a) hockey can't market their sport like basketball. In other words you are comparing apples and oranges. b) The "hurricanes" fans aren't real fans, they're mostly dumb rednecks.

if its just rednecks down here not supporting one team then why is bowling beating out NHL games?

NHL is goin down hill. it aint just the Canes. the entire sport. baseball is declining. the "professional" leagues are suffering. the NBA will expericence the same fate becasue they are diluting the product for both the NBA and NCAA.
