My predictions:

1. Duke
2. Maryland
3. Georgia Tech
4. Virginia
5. NC State
6. Wake Forest
7. North Carolina
8. Clemson
9. Florida State

I think Duke is a solid at No. 1. Think back to the year they lost Brand, Maggette, and Avery and reloaded with Williams, Dunleavy, and Boozer. They rose to No. 1 in the country that year.

Although Maryland lost Dixon, Baxter, and Wilcox, they've still got a solid group returning and a great coach.

After those two teams, Georgia Tech, Virginia, NC State, Wake Forest, and even North Carolina are neck and neck to me. They all seem evenly matched and the big factor, in my opinion, which will separate the better teams from the worse is the play of freshmen.

Then there are our traditional cellar dwellers of late, Clemson and Florida State. I feel for Larry Shyatt. Clemson is a good team, but the ACC is just a tough conference. I'm sure they'll get some big "upsets" this season. As for Florida State, I think they will get their share of ACC wins as well with Leonard Hamilton now at the helm.

This year, I wouldn't be surprised to see anything happen. Clemson finishing fourth, NC State falling to eighth, UNC finishing second... ANYTHING!! It's all possible with all the young talent we've got in the league this year. I'm really looking forward to the start of the season.

tdb I couldn't agree more.

Duke
Maryland
GT
UVA
NCSU

Then the rest are sort of interchangeable, except UNC won't be last.

BTW, what is Jeff K's URL?

1. Duke (it pains me to type it!)
2. UMD (early problems worked out by ACC play)
3. Yellow Jackets (on rise)
4. UNC (7-2 overall and 1-0 ACC early -vs- top scedule)
5. UVA (Watson is a man down low)
6. WFU (middle of pack caliber)
7. FSU (ready to prove ability)
8. Clemson (makin strides)
9. NCSU (unable to overcome loss of Evtimov and no proven backcourt)

1. Duke (*sigh*)
2. Maryland (they've lost to some high caliber teams, but the team is really coming together)
3-5. Toss up between Wake, State & UNC
6. UVA (haven't impressed me that much yet, and Watson is injured)
7-8. Clemson & GT (Clemson looks to be pulling themselves out of the cellar, but we'll see what the ACC schedule does to them. GT is inconsistent, but with their freshmen improving could move themselves to a higher ranking)
9. FSU (has looked good, but the start of ACC competition has shown some holes still need to be filled)

I actually had Tech much higher after the first couple games, but that Syracuse debacle showed where the team needs to improve. Right now these are my predictions.

Once we get into ACC play and a higher overall level of competition, I have a feeling that many people may edit their predictions. I hope to be able to move Tech up to as high as 4th. It'll just depend how the team reacts to the conference schedule.

I agree that there are a lot of things that Tech needs to pull together, the major being that everyone on the team needs to have a good game on the same night...all of the guys haven't had a good night on the same night all season long, when that starts happening, we'll be awesome. I think that that will come real soon. My predictions:

1. Duke
2. Maryland
3. NC State
4. Tech
5. UNC
6. Wake
7. Clemson
8. UVA
9. FSU

But as a disclaimer before you guys start ripping me up, conference play just started and I haven't seen everyone play a whole lot...I'm almost positive that these will change in the next few weeks once I have a chance to see everyone play a few more times.

hoops13 Wrote:IT is gonna be interesting every night this year in the league. I'd say teams 1-7 are VERY VERY close.
After Round 1 it is apparent that teams 1-6 are very very equal. In addition, UNC has showed that it is just a basket or two away from contending at the top of the league.Clemson and FSU are the worst teams in the league and will stay at the bottom.

I think in Round 2 we are going to see things shake up big time because teams will still fail to win on the road. My prediction: there is going to be a 2 way-tie for first (with 5 losses), a 2 way-tie for second (6 losses), and a 3 way-tie for third (7 losses) with Clemson and FSU rounding out the league at 8th and 9th.

Okay, it's the beginning of the second half of conference play, and as I said early on, editing would happen after ACC competition began and we saw the true skill of the teams.

My revised predictions:

1-3. Duke, Maryland, Wake
4-5. State, UVA
6. Tech
7. UNC
8. Clemson
9. FSU

And before the Tech fans blast me here, let me say that if I thought Tech would pick up some road wins, I'd have them battling with State & UVA. But the obvious discrepancy between their play at home and play on the road has me placing them in 6th.

5. Wake-can they rebound after losing Songalia(sp?)?

That was an earlier post from when ya'll were putting down your predictions for the ACC. If ya'll can remember most of ya'll picked Wake to be number seven. I hope ya'll do know that Wake Forest swept five of the eight ACC teams they played and beat everyone once. Where is the love for the Deamon Deacons? ACC Champs right here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

04-cheers 04-cheers 04-cheers 04-cheers 04-cheers

And I bet all the other teams are doing this:

:crying: :crying: :crying: :crying: :crying:
