Other games:

Rose: Southern Cal vs Michigan

Orange: F$U vs Miami (even though all conf. commisioners agreed that there would be no reg. season rematch games in the bowls)

Fiesta: K-State vs Ohio State (blah!)

Bring in a tournament! Down with the BCS! College football is the only level of football that doesn't have a playoff for the championship.

They both have one loss. USC lost to Cal. Ok lost to K State. Explain how Ok's loss is worse. The system may not work, but it is what is in place right now. Does it need to change? I say let the 4 BCS's games be the first round of a playoff.

Nah, let them be later rounds. It will make them feel important.

But, here's what folks don't realize...you you get to keep the other bowls!

A playoff would be the best of both worlds: here's why.

NYD is traditionally filled w/ college football. You can't take that away, but w/ a playoff, there would be only 1 game scheduled that day (the championship).

SO...you schedule 3 lower-tier bowls for that day. That way, folks get their football fill, AND, it's a great warm-up for the big game. Kind of like a warm up band, or warm up comedians, BUT, far better than a "Super Bowl pregame show.":snore:

And, you can schedule some of these bowls for NYE (2 bowls), Christmas (2 bowls), and maybe Christmas Eve (1 bowl).

W/ a 16-team playoff you get 15 games...and w/ an additional 8 bowls you get 23 post-season games, with 32 playing in the post season. Those are numbers that should make everyone happy. Not too many, not too few.

I'd go for that, or even if they didn't want a full playoff, what about a "Final Four" type system? Still have all the 20-something bowls, and use the Fiesta, Sugar and Orange for the championship rounds. Take the top four ranked teams, and play a 1 vs 4 game and a 2 vs 3 game, both on New Year's Day. The winners of those two games would play a week later for the nat'l championship.

You still keep the bowl tradition and all the tie-ins this way, including in the Rose - that would still be a game between the Big 10 and Pac 10. If a Big 10/Pac 10 member made the Final Four, then the conference runner-up could take their place.

This what college football needed. A major disaster. Hopefully, this leads to changes.
