y'know, i've never been fishing before. People always seem to have fun, even if they don't catch anything. I'm definitely going to do some fishing in college.

I fish all the time, in fact during the summer it constitutes my income. Light tackle fishing is the best, if you can get away with it. I'm not much a saltwater fisherman though, grew up in the mountains instead. I just bought a new boat, which is why i'm rarely on here anymore.

Were you bottom fishing?

Yep. We found a nice school which seemed to be moving very slowly. Drifted over it a couple of times and just killed em. What a blast.

Soloman's Island--tipped many a glass there. Lived across the bridge for 7 years...had a nice house on the Potomac just up from Pt Lookout and used to crab off the dock.
Memories...
Seafood sucks big time in Ohio. :(

Have to agree Axeme, both the act of fishing and the seafood itself in Ohio can't hold to saltwater fare. I look forward to our trip to the Florida Gulf Coast every year just for the seafood. We usually go out for grouper, snapper and rudderfish at least once a trip.

The problem is that it has ruined my ambition for fishing up here. Walleye and crappie are certainly a distant second to a grouper or snapper fillet. However, I still spend a fair amount of time on Lake Erie for Walleye and Grand Lake for crappie with my sons.

Rick, this past weekend I had one of those moments a father will never forget. I taught my 5 year old to cast and took him large mouth fishing. The look on his face and his screaming "Dad, Dad!" when he caught his first fish "all by himself" was absolutely awesome!
