GREAT show this afternoon. It was actually the first time I got to hear it. As of today I'm going to make an extra effort to come home on my dinner break solely to hear the show in future weeks. I would have sent you an IM but I do not have that capability.
I don't even start thinking about tournament seedings until the midway point through the conference seasons. Your picks are certainly interesting. Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas? The Big12 will be good this season, but geez.
I can picture KU and OU as #1 seeds. In fact I've got this bug in my head that OU could be next year's Maryland -- many returning and rather hungry senior starters like last season's UMD team, bereft of only one starter from the previous Final Four team (UMD-Terence Morris; OU-Aaron McGhee), and this sense that they'll go back to the FF and erase the memory of being humiliated in their previous trip* ... sound familiar? In spite of losing Drew Gooden, KU still seems kinda dangerous and at first blush they still look very very much in contention.
Texas? I dunno yet. I thought Texas might have been a wee bit underrated last season, and even though Steve Blake and TJ Ford are the top 2 point guards in the country (Ford is certainly the top PG in the Big 12), I just don't sense the same "intangibles" in Ford that I sense in Blake. I will give Ford one thing he doesn't share with his football counterpart, Chris Simms (lets face it -- there's not that much difference between a QB and a PG -- they both dish the rock, it's just that one rock is shaped funny). Ford still has a chance to be the Real Deal. Simms has exhausted most of his opportunities to prove he's more than just an overhyped name, and therefore, do something that would actually reward the continued efforts of sports analysts and the like to take the Longhorns seriously at anything.
Right now I want to lean to giving that other No. 1 seed to some school that will probably come out of nowhere and surprise people, a school whose name I don't really know yet.

*To be fair, 2002 was OU's first trip to the FF since Kelvin Sampson took over the program eight years before.
